2024/06/29

On June 29, 2024, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with former Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, who is in China for the Conference Marking the 70th Anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, in Beijing.

Wang Yi said that Don Pramudwinai has been dedicated to the development of China-Thailand relations for many years, and he welcomed Don Pramudwinai's attendance at the commemorative conference in China. At the Conference Marking the 70th Anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence held this year, important common understandings reached by all are to move from the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. He said, "We should not only properly handle state-to-state relations, but more importantly, think about how to build a better world on this basis." Thailand has always been a reliable cooperative partner of China and a force for peace and stability in the region and the world. China is ready to work with Thailand and other like-minded countries to jointly deal with global challenges and promote the democratization of international relations.

Don Pramudwinai said that it gives him great pleasure to come to China to attend the commemorative conference upon invitation. The inclusion of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence in the Chinese Constitution demonstrates China's foresight and reflects the basic principles of international relations, and is still of strong relevance today. Building a community with a shared future for mankind injects new connotations of the times into the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, which is consistent with the three major global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping and is of great importance to the world. Thailand is ready to work with China and other countries to follow the spirit of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, and make joint efforts to build a more just and equitable world.

The two sides also had an exchange of views on the development of China-Thailand relations and regional and international issues of mutual interest and concern.
